Hong Kong Poinsettia
Primary School is a charitable institution established in 1999.
Poinsettia school is committed not only to serve the children of
*Gurkhas who faces difficulties in finding places In the mainstream
English Medium School but also to promote a school that nurtures
the aspirations of the Nepalese and other Ethnic Communities residing
in Hong Kong by providing excellence in teaching and security to
the children. HKPPS is to inspire students a life- long love for
learning and developing in the students a sense of self-worth, promoting
curiosity, critical thinking which will maximize their potential
and their growth as whole human being as well as a sense of belonging
towards Hong Kong.
*Elite Nepalese youth recruited in the British Army who had an opportunity
to serve Hong Kong and the people Hong Kong in many junctures.
About
the programme
Deepavali
(Candle-lighting) is one of the main festival most of the Nepalese
celebreate. During the festival they have varieties of items to
perform. Among them is a DEUSI. While performing Deusi Nepalese
youths and children visit their neighbors singing a song about the
Deepavali how it started many years back. The house owner awards
to them with significant amount of cash as a donation collected
during Deusi is spent for the community chest. It is the time for
celebration Deepavali. Poinsettia has decided to organize the programme
on the same cultural ground with the same purposes.
